Wow - a skill based bonus game attached to a slot machine. I'm not quite sure how I feel about that, but I do know that it is certainly different. The Hole in Won is not your typical slot.
To start with, the slot is a video style slot machine that has the standard five reels. It also has 15 paylines. Players can wage from one to five coins on each of the paylines.
I've been playing at Slot O'Cash, and there at least you can change the size of the coins from one penny each up to a dime. That makes $7.50 the maximum you can wager per spin.
The reels on the slot are golf themed, and a little tongue in cheek. For instance the Wild symbol is an eagle with a golf club. Of course an "eagle" is a very good golf score for a hole.
The two features on this slot machine that are worth noting right away are the Expanding WILD symbol, and the Bonus Round symbol.
The Wild eagle symbol will substitute for other symbols on the reels, making it easier to complete a payline. When you can use it, it also expands to cover all of the symbols on that reel, which makes it easier to complete additional winning combinations. You can find this symbol on the second, third and fourth reels of the slot.
Skill Based Bonus Game
The thing that sets the Hole in Won slot apart from most other slot machines is that it has a bonus game with an actual skill component. Yes, that's right, you can be good or bad at it - it is not all luck!
I'm not sure how I feel about that. I mean, I like it because it's different, and I played the slot over and over until I could get a chance to play the Bonus Game because I had heard about it and wanted to play it for myself.
One of my favorite slot machines from Realtime Gaming has a skill based bonus game, so I certainly wanted to test out the game inside of Hole in Won. It turns out to be a computer mouse game based on miniature golf.
You aim the ball by pointing the golfer in the right direction, and then choose how hard you want to hit the bal by setting the power arrow. Click the mouse, and watch the ball go rolling. The fewer shots it takes to put it into the hole, the better.
It's not a bad idea for a game, it's just that I can see a whole lot of people who aren't good at videogames not thinking it's such a great idea to finally unlock the bonus game, and do horribly at it! After all, there are people who never play videogames, people who may have arthritis and not want to be trying so hard during a bonus game, or maybe even a player or two that is past their limit on drinks, and not at the best of their videogaming abilities.
Still, it's a fun idea to have some skill involved in a gambling game that doesn't have to do with math!!
